The feature of the day at Swine Creek,
however, was when Roger Troutman ventured downstream about one
hundred yards where he spotted a flurry of spawning fishes under
sunlit waters in a large shallow pool with steady flow.
Roger coached us to quietly approach the
spawning fishes so we could get a good look at them. BJ Casseday
positioned herself optimally to get several photos of the pit
nests and various minnow species that were spawning there. After
stepping gingerly to avoid disturbing the fish, we soon became
bolder and discovered that they were not concerned about our presence
in the least.
