I have some E. okefenokee that were collected March of 2003, that are still
going strong in a 10 gallon set up with 6 adults Elassoma (4male 2 female)
and 5 adult L. omatta. The males did establish territories, but did not
seem to beat each other up too much. They have bred in this set up (not
that I did anything to "induce" such activity, just gave them lots of cover
and kept them well fed). Only a very few fry survived (1-3) as I did
nothing to sperate adults from fry and did no special feeding (I did not
even realize they had bred until I saw the mid sized fry). I'm sure I
could have had much greater survivability if the tank had been on my desk,
without the omatta, and I had been able to feed the fry properly.

By the way for a few others of you out there... so much for the elassoma
being short lived...
