NANFA-- Getting Started In Fish Collecting

Hello
I am new to the list. I'm an undergraduate, native of
Baltimore, but attending college in SW Virginia. I
recently went on a native fish collecting trip with
our college chapter of AFS, and I really enjoyed
myself. We caught close to 20 species- stonerollers,
chubs, white suckers, rock bass, red-breasted sunfish,
crescent shiners and mountain red belly dace were a
few.

I want to do some personal collecting this summer,
just for fun, but I'm not really sure how to get
started- where to get the equipment and such, or even
where to go to read regulations. Does Maryland have
strict regulations? I wouldn't be keeping any of the
fish, as I have no tank space available, but I would
like to go out for fun, and also to gain experience so
that maybe a fisheries organization will actually want
to hire me once I graduate. :-)

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Lauren
