Zebra mussels are eaten by some local fishes like the Wels, a giant catfish.
Their larval stage is also vulnerable to predation from other smaller fishes
and, if I remember correctly, from aquatic arthropods. Much of this is also
true for carp; the Wels is able to eat adult carp in a way few North
American predators in temperate areas are inclined to do.
