I meant to let this thread go... but Morgan actually escaped from jail in
Ohio after his botched raid. He came to a bad end, shot in the back in a
small Tennessee town while trying to escape a sudden Union raid. The shooter
was a reb deserter just to make it worse. (And Morgan's nephew Thomas Hunt
Morgan was the biologist who did much of the research leading to our current
understanding of chromosome structure & function.)
