What do you guys feed your daphnia?

I have been keeping turtles in my daphnia pool, it keeps the water green.
Except this year. I also use cow manure, lime, and straw to start things
going. Feeding the turtles well keeps the water green and the turtles eat all
the dragon fly nymphs and beetle larvae.
