Pond life is a great book. Best of all, it was one of my texts in my
aquatic biology class in grad school. Another useful book that we
used in that class is Needham and Needham's "A guide to the study of
freshwater biology". It is not that big, has some good keys, but
does not have a lot of natural history info.
