As a kinda postscript to my last message, you're absolutely right B.G. about
similis' eating habits. Mummichogs and bull minnows will eat a wide range of
things, but similis is a definite meat eater.

And just as I started to write this, a UPS truck pulled up to my door and
delivered a package containing the book, "Fishes of Chesapeake Bay" by
Murdy, Birdsong and Musick. An excellent book, with the cover peppered with
an illustration of Fundulus majalis, the striped killifish, among others. A
Christmas present from my mother, of all people!
