Traci,

The 55 gallon is best dedicated to larger varieties of fish such as the
larger minnows and sunfish species......

If I may suggest a darter tank, I'd use a 20 or 30 gallon long, set-up with
a gravel substrate and a powerhead and filter sponge just blowing water
across the length and breadth of the tank to simulate the fast flowing
habitats where most darter species are found. And, keep the tank in the
coolest, lowest temperatures possible.

Just a thought!
