it will keep on doing this with enough light and room to go up. willows just
keep making shoots over and over. there was an incredibly large one that got
cut down at our field station and i had some of the logs in the back of my
van to weigh it down. in the spring i threw them in my backyard and they
were sprouting shoots and branches once it warmed up. this was a main branch
of the trunk that was without moisture and considerable light for 5 months
and was just thrown onto gravel and it still came back.
