I didn't think so. I thought they looked similar but where of a different specie like the walleye of north america and that one from russia that gets huge.

I believe northern pike are native to Ireland. At least they are
native to Europe. I have caught them in France. It's one of very
few freshwater fishes that are native in North America _and_ Europe.
