Redfish are present in many freshwater lakes in Texas, mostly power plant lakes for the heat required, and with some degree of salinity. There are some private saltwater hatcheries here that donate some of their excess to Parks and Wildlife for stocking. There is no reproduction in these lakes.

i was in texas this week and had a chance to wander through the BassPro
shop near the DFW airport before flying out.
they had what appeared to me to be a small (3 ft) paddlefish swimming
around in the main indoor aquarium amongst the largemouth, catfish and
redfish.

anyone else see that?

i was also kinda surprised to see the redfish in what appeared to be a
freshwater aquarium.
