Heck they'll eat the whole rhizome!

Not able to read, they will be blissfully unaware of hobby claims that the
Java ferns (there actually are 5-6 species of Microsorium) are supposed to
be distasteful or dangerous to the eater.

I've got stung by a shop selling mystery snails which turned out to be
(after spawning and leaving hungry youngsters all over) one of the 20-some
apple snails. Caveat emptor.
