I agree with Noturus. The rubbermaids will also grow the nice long "hair"
algae on the sides that is nice for baby fish and I haven't had that kind of
growth on the 55-gallon half barrels. The other good thing about the 55
gallon barrels is if you only cut a "lid" into the round section, more like
shaving the barrel instead of cutting it in half lengthwise, they make good
worm containers. The contour keeps the worms from crawling out and also
encourages retainage of humidity. I've had one going all winter and I've
never had healthier looking worms - both earthworms and nightcrawlers.
