I think SC does have a state insect. it's called the palmetto bug, we have
them around here too. They are so big you can hear them walk up the porch
stairs. they sound like rustling paper. They mostly live in palm trees and
long needle pine trees but like to come inside to terrorize the dogs and
other small animals.
