The lake i was told there is also an observed population is, is an impoundment
of the upper cuyahoga river. It is VERY sport oriented but even more so the
drinking water source for Akron, Ohio (even though about 30 miles away). so
we've got a lake that is impounded within the last 40 years that has electric
motors only and no shore fishing formed from a very nice stretch of river.
what i think could be something against the zander(besides what i see as
differences in the head) is that these observed populations of Stark County ,
Ohio and Geauga/Portage County, Ohio belong to two seperate watersheds. If it
was a hybrid log perch shouldnt we be seeing more of this throughout the
state??? Zander to my recolection lack any markings as adults and are a large
river dwelling fish, but then again introduction is introduction. I just dont
see them getting into the drainage that the picture is from, maybe the one the
lake is formed off of because that is a Lake Erie drainage...I'm forwarding
the picture to some friends of mine at a private biomonitoring agency to see
if they have run across something like this in any electrocshocking.
