What we have found is that saltwater tanks last longer because when they
leak, the salt plugs up the hole. Not to mention that there are less "bugs"
which will grow on saltwater moist wood versus fw moist wood. Also, I would
use caution using marine grade plywood. The arsenic and other goodies in
the wood made to resist fungus and algae can't be too good if they leach
into the confined water space of the tank.

Is there a difference between plywood tanks with freshwater and those
with salt water in terms of longevity?
