The Speckled darters seem to prefer the glass bottom of the tank rather
then the pan of gravel placed in it. Three times this weekend I searched
though the gravel finding no eggs. I just went down to the fish room and on
the bare glass bottom in a thee square inch area that had about 12 peices
of scattered gravel in it I found 38 eggs. Could it be that in the sipsey
fork they prefered to spawn on slab rock rather then in the sand or gravel.
I am going to scatter a few peices of gravel in a different location in the
tank and see if they also spawn there. I had noticed that when they were
spawning on the gravel the female didn't bury her self but remained on the
surface.
