I heard a story last summer of an incidence at a small lake (actually a pond) east of the Hudson River in the capital district NY. At the time I said it sounded like a lamprey. Supposedly a golden retreiver had been attacked while swimmiming, and taken in shock to the vet. It had a small circular mark or bite. I never verified the story and wasn't sure how a lamprey might have gotten in a pond but I'll see if I can find any more info on the report.
