I may have some answers on the ice thing this weekend. My gar pond has a
heater and a pump for current. The snow kept the ice from nearly freezing
at all, it was all slush. when I cleared the snow away, the slush froze up
to ice. This weekend I plan to run an airline to the killi pond that has
frozen normally and the snow cover has not been disturbed. I will see how
thick the ice is versus the heated pond, and the local lakes.
