I remember collecting sticklebacks with my cousin in
the harbor at Neustadt an der Ostsee when I was 17.
We had a fish net and a pail. In an hours time we
were able to collect enough to populate his tank. I
don't remember which species it was but it was
definitely brackish water. The lakes in my home town
of Bad Segeberg are native to a number of pikes and
perch. I remembered watching them from a rowboat.
This area is just south of Denmark and did belong to
Denmark until around 1870.
