The Winter 2002 American Currents is at the printer and should begin mailing
in about two weeks. Subjects include Ken McKeighen's "Building and
Maintaining Outdoor Pools," marine fishes of Cape Fear, catching and keeping
redfin pickerel, the 2001 NANFA Convention report, killifish of Nantucket,
tips from the "father" of fishwatching (the legendary Jacob Reighard), and
more. Another fish-packed 40 pages.

I know there are many people sufficiently interested in native fishes to be
on this list, but are not members of NANFA. Please join in the next week or
so, and your name will make the mailing of this issue. A membership
application is here:

http://www.nanfa.org/join.htm

Also, if you're a member of NANFA, please check the expiration date on the
mailing label of the last issue of American Currents you received. If it
reads 2/1/02 or earlier, you WILL NOT receive the Winter 2002 issue. (Sorry,
but it costs money to print and mail AC.) Please renew before your name is
expunged!

Work on the Spring 2002 AC has already begun. In fact, I just typeset the
first article this morning, a fascinating study of how much to feed juvenile
bowfin and how quickly they grow.

Best fishes,

Christopher Scharpf
