NANFA-- anyone ever toyed with this idea?

I use a kind of a mixed system with UGF's covered with 1.5 inches of well
wished river sand over the plastic plate. I don't worry about the slots
getting plug, maybe I should. I run at least two lifts in 15 gal.
tanks. I root the aquatic plants into the sand and place the
"decorations", eg. coarse gravel, rocks, and drift wood on top of the
sand. This system seems to work very well. I also place some peat pellets
under the plastic to lower the ph some and to color the water. I have been
happy with this system and the fish, mostly killiefish, seem the
thrive. My tanks get weekly 20% water changes.

I would be interested in anyones comments.
