How'bout Rhodeus ocellatus? It is sorta like compressed red shiner
and can stand higher temp and does live in slow water too. There
seems to be many species in East Asia.

I don't know much about bitterling but is it possible for them to
adapt to living in lakes and spawn in zebra mussel?
