I have a book revised in 1984 titled, Sports Afeild Know Your Fish.
They list these esox species: lucius ( northern pike), masquinongy
masquinongy ( great lakes muskellunge) , americanus ( little pickeral) ,
niger ( chain pickeral), masquinongy X lucius ( tiger musky) and maquinongy
ohioensis ( Ohio muskellunge). it just popped into my head that I had the
book. In the color plate the ohio musky looks typical with barring, the
great lakes musky is black spotted. I remember seeing some place else a
list of 3 species of musky. Unfortunatly I do not remember where that is.
