I usually start out with about 1 or 2 teaspoons of marine aquarium salt per
gallon but I don't add it to top off water or water changes so that eventually
the salt level goes to the same level as the source water. Unless of course it
one of my aquarium where I never do water changes. some of them are
significantly salty as much as 1.007 on my hydrometer. Just show how years of
evaporation can concentrate salts.
