Southern Madtoms probably would not do well in a tank much more than 900. In nature they can retreat to shade under roots and other such stuff. They overwinter in waters that get quite cool. So if you have a chiller use it, otherwise keep that water below 90.

Up north, now that is a different story. Some of the Ohio boys should chime in here.
