The Fall 2000 issue of PEER (Public Employees for Environbmental
Responsibility)just arrived. It contains an article titled "Exotics Swamp
the Mississippi" about the rapid spread of Asian carps, particularly bighead
and grass carps. It also warns of the dangers of introducing black carp
which the Australians now call "river Rabbits" due to their "high rate of
reproduction and voracious appetites."
