Nativephiles and Exotiphobes -

Mark your calendars:

This Saturday, March 13, is the world premiere of the SciFi Channel
original movie "Snakehead Terror". For more information, visit
www.scifi.com/snakehead/. The website describes the movie as follows:
"A small-town sheriff defends a town from killer "Frankenfish" - a.k.a. the
Snakehead Terror. Bruce Boxleitner (Captain Sheridan on Babylon 5, Scarecrow
on Scarecrow and Mrs. King)) and former Elite model Carol Alt (Steven
Spielberg's Catch Me if You Can) star in this tale based on a horrifying
true story of nature run amok."

And consider this - There are now data showing that exotic planktivores can
impact the growth of paddlefish when food is limiting:
Schrank, S.J., C.S. Guy, and J.F. Fairchild. 2003. Competitive
interactions between Age-0 bighead carp and paddlefish. Trans. Am. Fish.
Soc. 132: 1222-1228.
