I too have noticed and felt this way a little lately...mostly noticing its getting a bit personally charged in the threads. my biggest qualm and how much of this can be avoided...is email the person specifically...alot of the recent emailing on the list has been back and forth between two people...if a thread goes of on a tangent like that, use their email address. it is right there in the email you recieve...it removes alot of clutter, and alot of the things that stray heavily off the organization and lists intentions. A list server isnt really a personal instant messaging service, so maybe just email the person directly back once it comes to that point.
