I'm leaning that way, Harry. It would be very easy to set up my dado blade to
cut a simple lap joint (similar to what Todd described). Time consuming but it
wouldn't tax my rather rudimentary carpentry skills. Easier still if I had a
bandsaw, but I don't...

Mitered corners would look really nice, but I worry they would seperate unless I
bolt each corner of each timber.
