NANFA-- Dave's "surpisingly hardy silversides"

I had a chance to do a little coastal sampling, albeit for only an hour or
two, near Gulfport last week. Among some of the killies and stuff I
netted, I also took home a few small (1 inch or so) silversides. This was
by far the most common fish I encountered, and although I released many
dozens of them I kept some, even knowing that they would die, because I'm
just the kind of guy who hates to put fish back into the water once I've
taken them out of it :-) Except they didn't die. In fact, my bait bucket
full of fishes sat in my garage for two days before I even got around to
setting up a brackish tank for them. That was a week ago, and I STILL have
not lost one silverside. Go figure.
