Eels, of course, are a by-product of decomposition.

They can also reproduce by rubbing their bodies against rocks, whereupon
bits of skin come to life. In fact, parasitic worms living inside eels are
fetal eels waiting to be born.

Eels may also be spontaneously created when horse hairs fall into the water.
