Sounds like you will soon know for sure what you have.

The fish in the photo has (what looks to me like) a mouth I would describe
as ventral, rather than subterminal. H. dorsalis' mouth is only very
slightly subterminal, quite nearly reaching the front of the head.

Maybe it is just the photos. Anxious to find out what the final diagnosis
is!
