I remembered watching Tennessee shiner in full color in the Tennessee Aquarium
last May [1999]. There were Nocomis chubs in the same tank but none of them
colored up or having tubercles. Other fishes that color up or have tubercles in
the tank [or nearby] that I remembered were a large Cyprinella and maybe [I am not
sure is it just normal color] warpaint shiner with the red warpaint markings.
They were mostly on the bottom while the Tennessee shiners are near the surface
having intense red over the whole bodies. Anyway there was no chub in heat nor
was any nest, yet the Tennessee shiners color up fine. Any suggestion?
