Not only for taste but for accumulated toxins reasons. Although the cut off
size is more like 24 inches where I catch them. I have markers on the ruler
on my boat that cut off pike at 24 inches, lake trout at 22 inches and
smallmouth bass at 15 inches for eating purposes. Most get returned
immediately but if the size is right and it is close to dinner time, I
appreciate a good fish meal about once a week.
