NANFA-- creek chubsuckers

Has anyone ever kept creek chubsuckers for any length of time?
I have several juviniles in a community setup with blacknose dace and various
minnows. I see them take frozen blood worms and they constantly graze on the
substrate and rocks and wood in the tank, but they never show full bellies
like the other fish and some are even looking hollow bellied. I've tried
introducing algae in various forms but they don't seem too interested.
Any clues on a food that will help them thrive?
