What's New?
Captive Breeding Guidelines In 1994, the Aquatic Conservation Network (ACN) published Captive Breeding Guidelines, an important document for aquarists that establishes ground rules for inmplementing and running a captive breeding program for fishes. The ACN is now defunct, but NANFA has obtained the rights to distribute Captive Breeding Guidelines in PDF form.

NANFA Forum Sections of this bulletin board-style Forum include parallel discussions of various native fish groups (e.g., minnows and suckers, catfishes, sunfishes); a photo gallery where members can show off their fish tanks and fish collections; a dedicated forum for fish identification assistance; a "Fish Market" where members and vendors can buy and sell fish-related products; a "Local Edition" where members can post notices of local collecting/sampling trips and find collecting/sampling partners; a forum where members can share their favorite collecting sites of non-protected species; and dedicated forums on each of the following topics: conservation, collecting and snorkeling, state laws and regulations, native plants for the aquarium, and exotics. Anyone can view messages on the forum, but you must register to post to them.
NANFA Member Photo Gallery Members can share their
photographs in this photo gallery. Instructions on how to use the gallery are found at the site. (It's
surprisingly easy to use.) Anyone can view photos, but registration is
required to post them. As of this writing, many of the posted photographs
(with captions) show the fun and excitement of the 2006 NANFA Convention in
Cape Girardeau, MO.
Notes on Aquarium Care and Captive Propagation Culled from hobbyist and scientific literature, and interviews with leading native fish aquarists, these care and husbandry notes are written for both professional and amateur aquarists.
