Later
in the day, after leaving Swine Creek, we visited nearby Eagle
Creek, where we were literally eaten alive by mosquitos, inspite
of the repellent used earlier! Eagle Creek is a tributary of The
Mahoning River and is very scenic for photographers who are looking
for some easy access to water. This stream boasts heavy vegetation
on both sides, also making it a canoers delight! This stream is
part of the Ohio River drainage. Due to the mosquitos, we only
stayed here for about an hour and netted some Rock Bass, Smallmouth
Bass, Blackside Darters, Yellow Perch, Black Crappie, Bluegill,
Sand Shiners, and Logperch. This stream flows out of the nearby
Ravenna Arsenal, a 21,000 acre Army Ammunition facility, boasting
many threatened species of animals.
