Are you talking about San Salomon Springs-in-Balmorrhea? That's more
like 8 hours away, in the Trans Pecos area. Next best bet for
snorkling, close to San Antonio is Landa Park in New Braunfells (Comal
River), San Marcos R. in San Marcos, or the Medina R.-in-Bandera or
nearby. All these locations are within 30 miles of San Antonio, the
water is crystal, and lots of wonderful fishes. No pupfish like-in-
Balmorrhea, though. There are other bright, crystal spring fed streams
like the Frio, the Nueces, and the Llano that are much closer than
Balmorrhea, though, and some of them offer the possibility of the
Guadalupe Bass. All have cichlids and tetras.

"Where are we going?" "I don't know, are we there yet?"
