oh yeah ...something called MS 222 ...it puts fish down in water ...asphyixiates the gills fast something like that...at least we had it-in-school i bet toledo does todd

Seriously though -- I know hwat you mean about putting fish into formalin.
I've done it before, straight from the water to the formalin, and beyond the
fact that the fish often thrash and damage themselves, I have issues with it
being a bit inhumane. You can use a number of various drugs that'll slowly
put the fish to sleep, or-in-least anethestize it -- I'm blanking as to any
of the common trade ones right now. You can also put the fish in a large
bag or bucket of water and surround it with ice, and put it down that way
before putting into the formalin bath.
