I do believe there is a cumberland subspecies of E. simoterum and it may not have been getting the work that some of the things have been getting down here that could possibly further clarify its status. I hope some addendum or new edition of the Tennessee book can come out soon, becaues unfortunately after that was published, within the last 10 years we've seemed to gain about 30+ species. The stigmaeum complex, the spectabile complex, the virgatum complex, , firebelly complex, dennoncourti, different notorus, saylori, it just goes on and on.

regarding tn snubs...
several years ago i was snorkeling in i think it was a trib of the south
harpeth, i believe it was sw of nashville. very pretty clear water. a local
fella said that certain times of year they caught "candy minners" out of it. :)
i was playing and gently clearing the substrate and little snubnoses were
gathering and investigating my activity. as i peered down upon them their heads
turned green... before my eyes. i inquired of david et about them and he
quickly said they were a cumberland subspecies and do believe that is discussed
in his book.
pretty cool.
i have often wanted to return there.
