Several recent news stories of possible interest -

On 20 Dec 2005 a northern snakehead was found in Tennessee's Poplar Tree Lake
near Memphis:

It appears to have been an isolated specimen.

24 Jan 2006 - Ebay, a convenient source for collectors of sawfish rostra, has
banned sales of rostra from the U.S. endangered smalltooth sawfish:

Story notes that 2004 prices for rostra averaged around $100 but went as high
as $1200. A recently-sold specimen went for >$1700. Many of the rostra sold
on ebay (including the $1700 specimen), however, are NOT from smalltooth
sawfish. It would be interesting to know what percentage of rostra represent
smalltooth, largetooth, etc..

04 Feb 2006 - Certain Swiss businesses, stockpiled large quantities of
European caviar, prior to trade restrictions this year. Now there are plans
by a Swiss engineering firm for farming sturgeon. The sturgeon would be
raised in warmwater effluent from a tunnel project. The sturgeon would be
farmed along with tilapia and tropical fruits.
