I have a 20 L set up underneath my 55 community tank that has a bit of love in the air (water). I have a pair of SRBD that started off as a 1:2 M:F a few months ago. They haven't had a light source other than sunlight coming in from the window now for about 3 months. Not quite sure about the temp but I know the air temp in here gets to 65 consistantly and this is basically sitting on top of a tile floor next to a cinder block wall so I know it has gotten fairly cool. I noticed that the female was getting quite plump and the male getting nice and red last week so I removed a small crayfish and fantail and orangethroat from the tank. I don't have anywhere to put my bloodfin pair and I was hoping they would spawn in it too so they are still in. Hopefully they might lead me to eggs since I have visually searched for about 30 minutes to no avail. I have some pea gravel with about an equal mix of larger chert gravel from the local stream which the fish came from giving me some nice
spaces for eggs. Well getting back on track, I did about a 20% water change haphazardly after seeing these conditions and put some pretty warm water into the tank. Within that night the male fired up and they have been chasing ever since stopping to whirl around each other and all sorts of moving and shaking. This morning I noticed a visible difference in the girth of my female. I have hooked up a small desk lamp to give me a small bit of light over the tank and I have placed an old webcam in front of the tank and am taking short videos to record their behavior. Hopefully I can get some good clips and find some eggs. If the video turns out good someone a little more web savy can put it up on the site possibly?
