I don't know how important having the stoneroller nest is, but I know
that the fish that I have bred have focused all their spawning runs on
the nest and they did not seen to spawn anywhere else.
I have found that putting too many fish into the tank resulted in
fewer fry because the fish not involved in spawnig would follow behind
the spawners and eat the eggs.
