Re: NANFA-L-- native fish-in-fish stores

Been gone for a couple of days and was surprised to see this note... I have
had good success with swamp darters... several that came back from the S.C.
convention are still doing great (growing and aggressively going after
their food). They are somewhat secretive, and I have had a few surprises
after I removed what I thought were the only two individuals in the tank (I
only ever saw these two larger individuals while observing) and then later
two more showed up! I don't think this was a breeding thing given the time
involved and the fact that I had originally put five individuals in the
same tank. In any event, as long as I am feeding them frozen foods, they
are doing great!

I picked up some very small darters myself from the LFS in the feeder
tank... they looked very drab in the LFS, but now appear to be a rather
light metallic green... and have mouths that are more on the front of their
faces (not as turned down as a swamp darter that they are living with in
the same tank). Not sure exactly what they are yet, but for the price of
feeders it was worth finding out (particularly in the winter when I am not
getting out much).
