Amazon Mollies are even weirder by their ability to get fertilized by
pretty much anything with a gonopodium. As I understand it, they're
parthenogenic, but need something in milt ( not sperm ) to produce a
batch of fry, which are all daughters. I could be way off on that one,
but I'm pretty sure that's what I read. They've been fertilized by
numerous other species with no problems. Male Amazons are very rare,
virtually unheard of, hence the name Amazon. That makes them much like
the Mangrove Killie of the Florida Keys.

I guess you guys already knew all that, though, eh? Oh well.

I have a theory that Pteronotropis merlini arose from a cross between
P.hypselopterus and P. euryzonus, but it's full of holes.
