I have always thought it strange that, for example..... someone fishing
could collect a certain amount of "bait" while possibly collecting within
the mix, some endangered species... and this practice be totally accepted
by DNR's, while on the other hand, when one says "collect" and perhaps KNOWS
what to take and what NOT to take, that this practice will be looked-in-with
suspicion. Most likely because DNR's have never really looked-in-what NANFA
folks do, as a recognizable wise use of a natural resource. I approached
randy Sanders about this issue a long time ago, and he agreed that there
needs to be a better clarification of all this and saw how sustainable
collecting is less a threat to the fish, than is blind seining for
everything and anything all thrown into the mix as "bait"
