The mussel propagation lab here uses either auto or marine batteries (can't remeber which) that are wired together to run the systems as a backup. I believe some of our systems or other systems even have backup chillers becuase if those go well there goes all your juvie mussels or rare fish. I'm not sure the length or the amount we can run on it because there is ALOT of stuff to run in there, pumps, filters, UV, chillers, AC. I know in the past we have had to bring some of the electrofishing generators over. What about those small Honda's that used to be on the backs of all the gas shockers like Coffelt's and Smith Roots. I know here there seems to be about 5 of them lying around because the shocking units died and the generators are all fine. Something else that popped into my head were the units used by offices to power computers. I believe they are or were made by a company called APC but they typically can run a computer or two. My last idea...portable solar panels
that can bought from Bass Pro or Cabela's etc. I'm sure you might need an inverter too unless it is a style of pump that already runs off of 12 volts.

So would this be a bad time to send you sculpin Dave? I'm literally all alone in Cookeville, apparently I'm banished from ever going to the Green River while I'm here, so I have nothing to do tomorrow and I had planed on heading out to Morrison or Blackburn Fork to get you a few specimens.

I picked up 2-in-Fry's yesterday. They were 400 Watts and ran $9.99 each. They were in the automotive sound section. Fry's has spread across the US pretty good:

I found the one I got for $25 online:

XO-Vision XO-400 Inverter + Game Port 400W
