The story mentions the trap incident and the back-up (refuge) populations.
There was a population, I think, in a pond near Hoover Dam. I do not know if
they are still there or if they are being bred-in-Dexter National Fish
Hatchery (which specializes in fish facing extinction). The problem with
these refuge or hatchery populations is that they sometimes "drift" fronm the
forms (and behaviors) of the original broodstock so they may not be
best-suited for reintroduction.
